UNDER ASHEN SKIES
The struggle of the mighty has abated.
My misery and sin has been revealed.
And those who stood against me, once-- slated
to taste my bitter and triumphant steel.
This blade of ice has plunged into my soul.
Alone, I stand, surrounded by my pain.
Yon battlefield, a testament to old
and fruitless acts, condemned. My own disdain
for what I have become will lead toward
no sanctuary, nor salvation's breast.
Oh, blighted one! So quick to wield your sword
in rage, you've paved the path to hell 'thout rest.
Soft breezes, once the heralds of desire,
now scald my heart with gusts of Satan's fire.
