Incantation
Muted thunder, disrupt the labored
beating of my heart and shake
my scattered essence back to nature's rhythm.
Crack of lightning, blind my eyes
and burn away these visions
that rise up behind my eyelids.
Gusting winds, strip my soul
bare, past its somber layer
and sweep it fresh with sand.
Soothing rain, wash away my pain,
wipe clean my wounds
and dilute my salty tears.
Gentle whisperer, sow your seeds
of love and kindness,
that this soil, plowed asunder
may gather in the rain,
shudder with the thunder
and brighten with the rising sun.
Gentle whisperer, till this wild field
with tender care and patience.
Cultivate and celebrate...
For out of all pain rises hope once more.
