Windows 3.1 and Internet Explorer Configuration

Software Installation

  1. Insert Disk 1 into your floppy drive.

  2. In the Program Manager select "Run" from the File menu. (You can hold down the Alt key and Press Tab to cycle between running programs -- However, we strongly recommend exiting all other programs before beginning the install.)

  3. Enter a:\setup for the "Command Line", then click on the "OK" button.

  4. Click on the "I Accept" button.

  5. Click on the "OK" button.

  6. Enter your Name and Organization in the appropriate areas, then click on the "OK" button.

  7. Click on the "OK" button again.
  8. If you wish to change the directory where Microsoft Internet Explorer is installed, do so now. When complete, or to accept the default, click on the "OK" button.

  9. Click on the "Complete" button in the Install Options screen

  10. Enter the Program Group (if you wish to change) in which to display the Internet Explorer icons, then click on the "Continue" button.

  11. Click on the "Next" button in the Install Modem screen.

  12. Click on the "Next" button to select the modem found by the modem detection program.

  13. Click on the "Finish" button to complete the installation process.

  14. Click on the "Yes" button when asked to restart your computer.

Setting Up a Connection:

  1. Open the Microsoft Internet Explorer program group.

  2. Double-click on the "Get on the Internet" icon.

  3. Click on the "Next" button.

  4. Select "Manual" for the configuration option, then click on the "Next" button.

  5. For "Name of Service Provider" enter Infobahn, then click on the "Next" button.

  6. Enter the "Phone Number" from the list above which is local for you. Click on the "Next" button.

  7. Enter your Dial-in username in the "Username" area and the dial-in password in the "Password area. Click on the "Next" button.

  8. Click on the text "My Internet Service Provider automatically assigns me one" for IP address, then click on the "Next" button.

  9. Enter 208.0.145.2 for "DNS Server" and 205.146.6.2 for "Alternate DNS Server" then click on the "Next" button.

  10. Click on "Yes" when asked if you want to set up News, then on the "Next" button
  11. Leave "Username" and "Password" blank, then enter news.icubed.com for "News Server". Click on the "Next" button.

  12. When asked if you want to leave the username blank, click on the "Yes" button..
  13. Click on the "Finish" button

  14. Select the Program Group for the connection icon (Should be the same as where the Internet Explorer program is located). Click on the "OK" button.

You should now be able to open a dial-up connection into Infobahn International, Inc. by simply double-clicking on the icon for connection you just created. This will bring up the "Connect To" screen. Simply clicking on the "Connect" button will dial the phone and initiate the connection. Once the connection goes "live", Internet Explorer will start.
