Initial Configuration of Internet News

If you have freshly installed Internet News, the program will open a setup wizard the first time the program is run. Here's how to configure things:
  1. Click on the Next button.

  2. Enter your name in the "Name" field and your E-mail address in the "E-Mail Address" field. Click on the "Next" button.

  3. Enter news.icubed.com for "News Server". Make sure that "My news server requires me to logon" is NOT checked.

  4. Click on "I use a modem to access my newsgroups", then select a dial-up networking connection to use (Infobahn). Click on the "Next" button.

  5. Click on the "Finish" button to save your settings.

Reconfiguring Internet News (If you were using another provider)

  1. Start Internet News.

  2. Select "Options" from the "News" menu.

  3. Click on the "Server" tab.

  4. Enter your name in the "Name" field, your organization in the "Organization" field (optional), your E-mail address in the "E-Mail Address" and your reply-to address in the "Reply Address" field (optional).

  5. Click on the "Add" button to add a news server.

  6. In the resulting screen enter news.icubed.com for "News Server Name. Make sure that "This server requires me to logon" is NOT checked.

  7. Click on the "Connection" tab.

  8. Click on "I use a modem to access my newsgroups", then select a dial-up networking connection to use (Infobahn).

  9. Click on the "Apply" button to apply the changes to your current session.

  10. Click on the "OK" button to permanently save your changes.

  11. When asked if you "Want to subscribe to newsgroups", click on the "Yes" button and then select the groups you would like to subscribe to. (or click on "No" and do it later)

  12. Click on the "Apply" button to apply the changes to your current session.

  13. Click on the "OK" button to permanently save your changes.
