Windows 95 and Netscape Navigator Configuration
The following describes how to set up your PC with Windows 95 for use with Infobahn
International, Inc (III). We assume that you have not been on-line with another
service and do not have any Dial-Up networking components currently installed. We
also assume that you have a version of Windows 95 that did not ship bundled with Internet
Explorer. This document is broken into the following sections:

Installing Dial-Up Networking
- Click on the "Start" button, then select "Control Panel" from the "Settings" sub-menu.
- Open the "Add/Remove Programs" control panel by Double-Clicking on its icon.
- Click on the "Windows Setup" tab.
- Double-Click on the "Communications" item in the "Components" list box.
- Make sure that the choices "Dial-Up Networking", "Hyperterminal" and "Phone Dialer" are checked.
- Click on the "OK" button.
- Click on the "OK" Button.
- Follow the instructions given by Windows 95 (insert disk(s) or CD-ROM when prompted).
Installing the TCP/IP Network Protocol
- Click on the "Start" button, then select "Control Panels" from the "Settings" sub-menu.
- Open the "Network" control panel by Double-Clicking on its icon.
- Click on the "Configuration Tab" in the resulting screen.
- Scroll through the list of "Installed Network Components" to see if there is an entry for
TCP/IP (in any form). If so, skip steps 5 through 10.
- Click on the "Add" button.
- Double-Click on the "Protocol" choice in the "Select Network Component" screen.
- Click on Microsoft in the Manufacturers list box.
- Double-Click on "TCP/IP" in the Network Protocols List Box.
- Click on the "OK" button.
- Click on the "OK" button again, then follow the instructions given by Windows 95.(Insert disk(s)
when prompted, then restart Windows 95).
Setting up a Dial-Up Networking Connection
- Locate the "MyComputer" icon on the desktop.
- Double-Click on the "MyComputer" icon to view its contents.
- In the resulting screen, locate the "Dial-Up Networking" folder and open it by Double-Clicking
on its icon.
- Double-Click on icon "Make New Connection".
- Enter "Infobahn" for the name of the connection, then click on the "Next" button.
- Enter the phone number to dial, then click on the "Next" button. Choose the phone
number that is a local call for you.
- Click on the "Finish" button.
- Locate the "Infobahn" icon you have just created in the "Dial-Up Networking" folder.
- Right-Click over the "Infobahn" icon.
- Select "Properties" from the pop-up menu.
- Click on the "Server Type" button.
- In the resulting screen make sure that the ONLY networking protocol selected is "TCP/IP", then
click on the "TCP/IP Settings" button.
- In the "TCP/IP Settings" screen, make sure that the option "Server Assigned IP Address" is selected.
- Click on "Specify Name Server Addresses".
- Enter a Primary DNS server IP number of 208.0.145.7.
- Enter a Secondary DNS server IP numebr of 208.0.145.2.
- Click on the "OK" button 3 times to get back to the Dial-Up Networking screen.
- Double-Click on the icon for the connection.
- In the resulting screen, enter your dial-up username and password.
- Click on the "Save Password" Checkbox.
- Click on Connect to dial the phone and log in (If all goes well, after a few
seconds you will see a small window with a ticking stopwatch).
Retrieving Software from the III FTP Site
- Start Windows 95 FTP program (Choose "Run" from the "Start" menu, then enter a command
line of "ftp". Finally, click on the "OK" button.)
- Open a connection to III by typing "open ftp.icubed.com" (without the parentheses,
of course), then pressing "Enter".
- When prompted for a username, enter "anonymous" then press "Enter".
- Enter your E-mail address for the password, then press "Enter".
- Go to the Windows 95 directory by typing "cd /pub/software/win95", then pressing
"Enter".
- Type "binary" then press "Enter".
- Retrieve a copy of the Netscape Navigator install file by typing "get n32e301p.exe"
and then pressing "Enter". (Note that this file is between 5 and 6 MB so it will take
some time to retrieve, we estimate roughly 45 minutes with a 28.8 kbps modem)
- When complete, type "bye", then press Enter to exit FTP.
Configuring Netscape Navigator
- Install the software by Opening the "Add/Remove Programs" control panel, then clicking
on the "Install" button. Select the file you downloaded above (it will be stored in the Windows directory
by default, or use Explorer to do a search for "n32e301p.exe"), then follow the
instructions.
- Start Netscape Navigator.
- Select the "Mail and News Preferences" choice from the "Options" menu.
- Click on the "Servers" Tab.
- Enter smtp.icubed.com for "Outgoing Mail Server".
- Enter pop3.icubed.com for "Incoming Mail Server".
- Enter your E-mail username for "POP3 username".
- Enter news.icubed.com for "News Server".
- Click on the "Identity" Tab.
- Enter your name for "Real Name".
- Enter your E-mail username@icubed.com for both "E-Mail Address" and "Return Address".
- Click on the "OK" button to save your changes.
