In the late 1970's, my father-in-law, George Morrow corresponded with Lysle H. Morrow of Aledo, Illinois who I believe died in 1987. Lysle and his wife, Gladys Aten gathered much information on their ancestor David Morrow and sent my father-in-law copies of their updated research. The following is a listing of the early generations, please contact me if you have any questions.
David Morrow, Sr. was born in 1759. His wife's name was Elizabeth, she was born c. 1764. David was a farmer and a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Allegheny Co, PA. He died on 23 Dec 1839, preceding his wife who died on 26 Mar 1846. They are both buried in the old section of Bethel Cemetery. His will was filed in Allegheny Co.
Children of David and Elizabeth Morrow - probably all born in Allegheny Co PA on the family farm.
Arthur Morrow - born in 1788, he was a member of the 5th class of elders of Bethel Church, serving from 1824 - 1868. Arthur's wife was Martha, they had two known children: Sarah Caldwell and David Jerico. Arthur died 21 Mar 1868 and Martha died a few months later on 24 Jul 1868. Both are buried in Bethel Cemetery.
Matthew Morrow - born 29 July 1790 and died 28 Sept 1856. He was a farmer in Snowden Township, Allegheny Co, PA. Married in 1815, Matthew's wife was Nancy Kiddoo, the daughter of James Kiddoo I and his second wife, Mary Tidball - see child David below. Nancy was born on 15 May 1792 and died 10 Aug 1842. Both Matthew and Nancy are buried in Bethel Cemetery. They had the following children: David, Mary, Elizabeth, James Kiddoo, Martha Jane and Agnes. A few of their children ended up in Joy, Illinois. This is the line Lysle H. Morrow was descended from.
Catherine Morrow - born in 1792, she married John Wilson who died in 1874. John and Catherine moved to Dalton, Wayne Co, OH where she died in 1849. They are both buried in Dalton.
Mary Morrow - born in 1794.
Sarah Morrow - born 19 Aug 1796, and was also known as Sally. She married William Wilson who was born 08 Jan 1792 and died in 1870. Known children are: William b. 03 Jul 1820 and Alfred C. b. 1833 - d. 1884. In 1855, Alfred married Elizabeth Stewart b. 1834 - d. 1895. Sarah died in 1836 and is buried in Bethel Cemetery.
Elizabeth Morrow - born in 1798, she was the second wife of John Wilson of Baldwin Township, Allegheny Co, PA. John's first wife was Sarah Kiddoo, a daughter of James Kiddoo. John was an elder at the Concord Presbyterian Church. He and Elizabeth had the following children: David, Mary J., Joseph F., William, and Thomas M.
William Morrow - was born in 1801 and married a woman by the name of Martha.
David Morrow - born in 1803, was the husband of Elizabeth Kiddoo, who was the daughter of James Kiddoo I and his second wife, Mary Tidball - see child Matthew above. Elizabeth was born in Allegheny Co, PA on 24 Oct 1805. Shortly after their marriage in 1826, they moved to Dalton, Wayne Co, OH where they joined the Dalton Presbyterian Church. David and Elizabeth raised a large family which included: Matthew, James K, David F, Elizabeth, Catherine, Arthur, Isabella and Matilda. David and Elizabeth are buried in the Dalton Cemetery.
Hugh Morrow - was born in 1805. His wife's name was Margaret. Hugh died in New Castle, Lawrence Co, PA on 20 Oct 1888.
Thomas Morrow - born in 1807, he was married three times. In 1832 Thomas purchased 100 acres of land in Snowden Township that had orginally been owned by David Herriott. His first wife was Ann Espey who was born on 02 Mar 1813, and was the daughter of James Espey. Thomas and Ann had five children: Susan born in 1833; Eliza Jane born in 1837; Mary Agnes born in 1839; David Forbes born in 1843, a member of Co D of the 149th PA Volunteers who was killed during the Civil War; and, Thomas, Jr who was born in 1849 and married Elizabeth Moss. Ann died on 26 Jul 1849 and is buried in Bethel Cemetery. Thomas' second wife was named Mary. She was born on 18 May 1810, died on 26 May 1858, and is also buried in Bethel Cemetery. Thomas' third wife was mentioned in his will, her name was Francis. Originally Thomas was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, but he joined Bethany Presbyterian Church in Bridgeville, Allegheny Co, PA, becoming an elder of that church in 1857. Thomas died on 24 Oct 1871 and according to his will he was living in South Fayette Township. Thomas is buried in the Bethel Cemetery.
