A Show of Hands Chronicles RUSH in Rio RUSH-30 RUSH Replay x 3 (3-Disc Set)
Rush, a group from the areas around Toronto, Canada, was formed in 1969. The current members of the band Geddy Lee, Neil Peart, and Alex Lifeson, have been performing since 1974. They are presently on their second tour now for their  album "Snakes and Arrows".  MY personal favorite RUSH song is: "Hemispheres". I was personally bitten (no pun intended) by the song "By-Tor and the Snowdog" from their second album "Fly By Night". The first album I bought was "Caress of Steel", and I have been a fan ever since. I have all the studio albums and  DVDs. On my BBS I have the lyrics to ALL the songs, and a text file of a book named "Rush"- by Brian Harrigan.

Neil Peart
Neil Peart, drummer for the group, is also the lyricist. His lyrics were inspired by numerous books, including Anthem- by Ayn Rand, which influenced the song by the same name, The Lord of the Rings- by J.R.R. Tolkien in which the village "Rivendell" inspired the song of the same name. He reads anything he can, from Plato to Agatha Christie, Thomas Hardy, with a special affection for science fiction and fantasy. Originally inspired by the aggressive drumming of the late Keith Moon, he is also influenced by the likes of Carl Palmer and Bill Bruford.
Achievements
Neil Peart's Award Achievements in the "Modern Drummer" magazine reader's poll: Voted to Modern Drummer Hall of Fame: 1983 Best Rock Drummer: 1980,1981,1982,1983,1984,1985 Best Multi-Percussionist: 1983,1984,1985,1986 Best Percussion Instrumentalist: 1982 Most Promising New Drummer: 1980 Best All Around: 1986
Neil 's "Other" Passion:  Bubba's Bar 'n' Grill — "Good Simple Food"

Geddy Lee
Geddy Lee, lead singer, bass and keyboard player for the group lists among his influences: Cream, Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk Railroad and Iron Butterfly. He also has a strong affection for baseball and tennis and aspires to own a minor league team someday.
Achievements
Geddy Lee's Achievements include: Geddy is in the Bass Hall of Fame for Guitar Player Magazine Has been voted Best Rock Bassist more than 6 times Geddy won "best Rock Bass player" in the 1993 "Bass Player" readers' poll.

Alex Lifeson
Alex Lifeson, lead guitarist for the group, started playing guitar when he was 12. He lists his early influences as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page. Other contemporary guitarists whom Alex admires include Paco De Lucia, Allan Holdsworth, Edward Van Halen, Andy Summers and Rory Gallagher. When not on tour, he also spends time flying, and is in fact, a licensed pilot. He also has a strong reputation in the group as a gourmet cook.
Achievements
Alex Lifeson's Award/achievements: Best Rock Talent in 1983 (Guitar for the Practicing Musician) Inducted into the Guitar for the Practicing Musician Hall of Fame (May 1991)

Rush's music has influenced my life. Its worth a listen to hear the meaning in the lyrics of Neil Peart, the emphasis of those lyrics by Geddy Lee, and the guitar excellence of Alex Lifeson. Once you hear their music, you will wonder how 3 people could do all that. Well my friends, it IS worth it.
